User Interface. MainWindow.

The main window of the program consists of "Main Menu", "Toolbars", "Tabs", "Search Results", "Error log" and "Status bar".
Each of these elements is described below.

Main Menu and Toolbars.
Submenu "File".

"Load Results". To open the previously saved search results. This feature is unavailable if the search is being carried out on the current tab. However, if it is necessary to open the search results right now, you can create a new tab. The menu item will be available on it.

"Save Results". To save the search results. This feature is unavailable if the search is being carried out on the current tab. Wait till the end of the searching procedure and then save the results. You can also break the search before the appointed time.

"Export Results".To export the search results either into the XML or the HTML. This feature as well as "Save Results" is unavailable if the search is being carried out on the current tab.

"Exit". The Program Exit. If the search of files has not been completed, you will be offered either to break the search or not to close the application.

Submenu "Actions".

"New Tab". Creates a new search tab. You can create maximum four tabs. You can set your own searching criteria for each tab.

"Close Tab". Closes the current tab. You can't close the tab if the search on it is not completed. If you have decided to close the tab first stop the search and then close the tab.

"Connect Network resource". Network drive attachment. Use this feature if you want to address the remote resource as your local folder. After choosing this menu item the Windows operating system network drive attachment dialogue in which you can specify all the necessary settings will be opened.

"Disconnect Network resource". Disconnect the previously attached network resource.

"Find in Results". If the search resulted in finding many files with similar names, you may need to find a certain file among them. In this case choose this menu item, type the filename in the opened window, press the "Find" button and you will move to the file you need. If you press the "Find" button again, the program will find the next file with this name. Pay attention that the search is realized on the substring. It means that if you type "docum" in the search window, the program will find "Document.doc", "My Document.doc" files, etc.
There is another way of opening the fast search window - mouse-click on the search results and start typing the filename you need, and the program itself will open a search window.

"Sort By...". If you have found several similar documents, you will probably want to open the latest document, or, on the contrary, the oldest. For this purpose mouse-click on the "Date" column and the program will arrange the found files by the creation date. Another mouse-click on this column will arrange search results in a reverse order. Thus, either the latest or the oldest documents will come to the top of the list. You can also arrange the documents according to their size, attributes, names or the absolute path.

"Passwords Management". Opens the control window of the remote resources passwords. Network resources are protected by passwords with the purpose of access restriction quite often. If it is necessary for you to have an access to such resources and you know the login and the password enroll it into list. The StrongSearch automatically uses these passwords to the protected resources access.

"Options". Searching criteria settings, general application settings.

Submenu "Help".

"Help". This help.

"Tip of Day". Tip of day.

"How To Register". Describes how you can register StrongSearch.

"Enter Registration Code". Enter registration code of StrongSearch.

"Feedback". You can use this menu item to tell us your wishes or to inform us about an error.

"WWW Home". A home page of StrongSearch.

"About". About this program.

"Tabs", "Search Results", "Error log".

The StrongSearch tabs purpose is similar to the tabs purpose of Mozilla, Opera, MyIE and other browsers. The StrongSearch tabs allow you to start several searches with different settings without starting several copies of the program. Each tab contains an input filename mask field (or several filename masks), the list of search results and the list of errors. All entered filename masks are saved after closing the program, and you can always look through their list. If you often have to search the documents of a certain type you can enroll them into the file types list. For this purpose press the button on the right of the drop-down list and choose "Edit File Mask" item in the opened menu. The list already contains the most frequently used file types:

Pictures (*.bmp, *.ico, *.jpg, *.png, *.gif, *.tif, *.wmf, *.emf, *.pcx)
Music (*.wav, *.mp3, *.wva, *.mid, *.midi, *.mod, *.mp2, *.mp1)
Video (*.avi, *.mpg, *.qt)
Archives (*.rar, *.zip, *.arj, *.ha, *.tar, *.gz)
Documents (*.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf).

For the search beginning press the "Start Search" button. While the program finds new files, they will appear in the list. The total number of the found files will be displayed in the status bar.
If the necessary document is already found, it isn't necessary to wait until the search is completed, it is possible to terminate it. Press the "Stop Search" button for this purpose.

The shortcut menu is available in the results list at any moment (even when the search is not completed). You can open it by the right-mouse click on the list.

It contains the following features:

"Open File". Opens the selected file in the registered application for this file type.
"Open Folder". Opens the folder containing the selected file.
"Copy". Copies the selected file to the clipboard.
"Sort By...". Sorts out the search results.
"Clear Results". Clears the list of the found files.

Besides you can use the Drag'n'Drop support and drag the selected files into the specified folder or the application.

In the error log the errors which appeared as the search result are displayed. As a rule, it contains the list of remote computers which were impossible to be connected with. Such things may happen when the network functioning is unstable.

The status bar displays the following information:

• the active threads number;
• the found files number;
• search area.

Window "Options". Tab "Network".

On this tab you can change the search area for the active tab. If the "Save as default" option is checked, the settings will be saved after program closing and restored at the next start.
Check the "Search in hidden shares (C$)" option to search files in the hidden folders.

Window "Options". Tab "Filters".

This tab is intended for setting the advanced search options - the files attributes, the size and the creation date.

Window "Options". Tab "Common".

"Max threads per search". The maximum threads number. Several threads allow to reduce considerably the search time in big networks. The maximum thread search number is set by default. It is possible to reduce the number of threads for slow computers.

"Minimaze to tray". Minimizes the application into the system panel.

"Message when complete". Show message when the search is completed..
